Fusion historical dramas that have emerged as an alternative to the existing orthodox historical dramas represent others than the power holders as main characters and advocate their stances while reproducing the stream of formal history. Fusion historical dramas present a way of alternative reading to the orthodox history by suggesting possibilities different from the orthodox history. As such a method, history absorbs ‘imagination’ as a language communicated in the present and converses with recipients. What is to be noticed is the ‘conversation’ with recipients. The new history experienced through ‘TV’ converses with recipients via ‘internet blogs’ and is the integrated body of meaning completed through such a process of ‘consensus’. While there are concerns about such a process of consensus, recipients, greatly developed from the passive to active subjects in terms of interpretation and acceptance of media messages, interpret and accept drama texts contextually. For these reasons, this paper aims to regard fusion historical dramas that are constructing public ‘spaces for consensus’ by expanding historical spaces and times to the present ones with fusion-type imagination as an ‘alternative history’. It aims to identify how fusion historical dramas, society, history, and recipients meet and communicate through the media. Also it aims to identify how historical consciousness of fusion historical dramas transcends the meaning of individual events, acquires objectivity, meets subjectivity of viewers through this, and becomes present through memories of recipients in the end.
기존의 정통 사극의 대안으로 등장한 퓨전 사극은 공식 역사의 줄기를 재현하면서 권력 주체가 아닌 타자들을 주인공으로 내세우고 그들의 입장을 대변하고 있다. 퓨전 사극은 정통 역사에 대한 다른 가능성을 제시함으로써 대안적 독해의 길을 제시하고 있으며 이러한 방법으로 역사는 ‘상상’을 현재에 소통되는 하나의 ‘언어’로 흡수해 수용자들과 대화 하고 있다. 여기서 주목해야 할 것이 바로 수용자들과의 ‘대화’이다. ‘TV’를 통해 접하게 되는 새로운 역사는 ‘인터넷 블로그’를 통해 수용자들과 대화하며 ‘공론 과정’을 통해 비로소 완성되는 의미 통합체인 것이다. 이런 공론 과정에 대해 우려의 시선도 있지만 미디어 메시지 해독 및 수용에 있어서 수용자들은 예전의 수동적 태도에서 크게 발전해 능동적인 수용자로서 스스로 드라마 텍스트를 컨텍스트적으로 해석, 수용하고 있다. 이러한 이유로 본 논문에서는 역사적 시공간을 퓨전적 상상력으로 현재의 시공간까지 연장시켜 대중의 ‘공론장’을 조성해내고 있는 퓨전 사극을 ‘대안적 역사’로 보고자하며 퓨전 사극과 사회 및 역사 그리고 수용자가 매체를 통해 어떻게 만나고 어떻게 의사소통하는가를 밝히고자 하였다. 그리고 퓨전 사극의 역사의식이 어떻게 개별적인 사건의 의미를 뛰어넘어 객관성을 획득하며, 이를 통해 시청자의 주관성과 어떻게 만나고 결국은 수용자의 기억을 통해 어떻게 현재화되는가 하는 것을 밝히고자 하였다.
